March To Do List
Another month, another to do list! I’ve managed to tick off most of last month’s to do list, so here’s what I’m hoping to achieve this month. I’d love to know what’s on your March to do list, too!
- Learn German. I’m so ashamed that I have lived in Munich for over a year and know very little German. I’ve always said I’d teach myself, with Duolingo and the like, but in all honesty, while I remember some bits and pieces, I find it hard to stick to doing it regularly enough for it to have any real effect. (And when I try out my German, I get spoken back to in English – I think that’s quite telling!) So I’m looking into enrolling in a proper class.
- Get back into exercise. I do plenty of walking (at least 10k steps most days!) but I’d like to get more active. There’s a dance exercise DVD I enjoy doing (once I get started!) so I’ll have to get it on the go again. I’m a fair-weather exerciser; I enjoy swimming, especially in the summertime as there are outdoor pools here, so I expect I’ll be making a return to them.
- Practice styled photography. I really enjoy photography and always want to improve, particularly with styled photography, how best to use props, and creating flatlays. I can sometimes feel overwhelmed before I even begin, but “you can’t do it without doing it” – practice makes perfect.
- Publish more blog posts on films and books. I’ve always enjoyed analysing texts, be it written or visual, but rarely post anything of the sort (my last one was on La La Land). Part of me thought posts like this wouldn’t “fit in” on my blog, but I’ve since changed my mind on that one. Blogs are personal spaces after all, so they can – and should – be as multifaceted as we wish.
- And on that note, do more reading. While I love a good book, I am so guilty of getting distracted by other things. I will sit down with every intention of reading my latest paperback or Kindle book, but end up scrolling through social media instead, or watching Netflix. Not good! When flying back to Munich, I brought Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell on-board with me, and was completely engrossed. How could I be choosing mindless scrolling over this?! I’ll be finished this book soon. Part of me wants to rush to find out what happens; the other part of me wants to savour it so it won’t be over.
What’s on your March to do list? x
