Portobello, London
Walking around London aimlessly is up there among my favourite things to do, and after exploring Spitalfields, I took myself on a bit of a walkabout along Portobello Road.
Alice's is a very well-known spot and it stopped me in my tracks when I seen it on the corner. I'm certain there are so many treasures waiting to be uncovered, but at the same time I find the amount of things sitting outside quite overwhelming! Although it's definitely part of its charm. I think I'd need to be in the right mood for browsing, and I recall feeling a bit unwell with the cold at the time, so I didn't venture further inside. It's on my list for next time.
Walking along Portobello is almost a bit of a time warp, in the best way. Stores with hand-painted signage; the kinds of stores that have often fizzled out elsewhere; my personal favourite being The Portobello Print and Map Shop. And then there's the colourfully painted houses which bring so much character. Though I think I'd prefer one of the gaffs in the photo below, with the Vespa parked outside... a girl can dream!
