When I’m taking photos, I usually have a post in mind to go along with them. Most blogging content now is pre-planned, and while there’s nothing wrong with this, I can’t help but remember “the old days”. When blogs were more personal, diary-like and spontaneous. So I thought I’d share what’s been happening lately.
Jamie took these photos a couple of weekends ago during a little coffee break at Mindspace. As well as being an Instagrammer's dream, Mindspace is a seriously stylish co-working space in heart of Munich. It's the perfect mix of relaxing and inspiring, and I'm very lucky to be able to spend time here.
The weather has been improving, so I was able to go out sans-coat, keeping things simple in a classic roll-neck and some olive green jeans – a nice change from all-black – and my trusty DMs, which have hardly left my feet all Winter (and Spring). But, we’re now edging our way into t-shirt weather – last Sunday was spent at Tegernsee, a beautiful lake just over an hour away from Munich by train. Jamie and I basked in the warm sunshine by the shore, enjoying a hearty Bavarian lunch (read: pork and potatoes) followed by some gelato.
The next day, I started my German language classes. I was a little apprehensive before I began, as the course is delivered solely in German; I was worried I’d be out of my depth, but a week in and I’m really enjoying it- as well as managing to keep up and understand everything. I’m really pleased.
Speaking of pre-planned/less spontaneous blogging, on Instagram I’m still publishing lots of my snaps from London that I took when I was there in *coughs* February *splutters*. I just ended up taking so many specifically for Instagram, I haven’t got through them all yet! And with Instagram’s shadow-banning/moving the goalposts all the time, I feel like I need to be mindful of when and how often I post. Which can take the fun out of it a little.
Another note on socials: Since Buffer have overhauled their service, I haven’t been terribly active on Twitter. I know as a blogger it’s practically a sin to not tweet, but to be honest, *whispers*, I don’t really like Twitter. I’ve made the switch to Hootsuite but must make some headway with scheduling Tweets.
And lastly, I recently finished Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. Have you read it? Not many books stay with me weeks after I’ve finished the last page, but this one has really affected me somehow – I think I need to write a post on it. I’d love to get some book recommendations from you lovely lot, preferably something light and fluffy following Nineteen Eighty-Four!

I agree with your views on twitter! Tbh I don’t like any social media much. I only scroll through when I’m bored so it doesn’t help my blog because I don’t really promote much. I used to on twitter then I put a little more effort on Instagram and twitter went to the wayside. I just don’t have enough time to manage more than one social media properly! Hopefully I’ll make a routine soon and try to keep up everywhere.

I’m glad I’m not alone in my views on Twitter! It’s much more work than it seems to manage a couple of social media channels, it definitely takes more time than you’d think. So I hope to get more of a routine in place too!

These photographs are gorgeous! I agree, I miss the days of more personal diary-like blogs too :) I don’t feel like I come across many that are still like that these days which is a shame. I remember reading 1984 for sixth form and I know what you mean about feeling affected by it, I was the same. I always remember the part with the rats set onto him so vividly, that would be one of my worst nightmares! Have you read anything by Lindsey Kelk? She’s a brilliant author, her books are lighthearted and very funny too :)

Thank you so much Kate! Ah I know, me too, that part really spooked me *shudders* – definitely the stuff of nightmares! Oh yes, I read I Heart New York years ago. I actually read it in the space of two days, it was that good! I must check out her other books :) xx

I hate that Buffer changed its format. I loved using it to schedule blog promo tweets and since I’ve stopped using it I’ve found it so much harder to build engagement and remember to post! I’ve seen a lot of people recommending TweetDeck for scheduling tweets and just generally keeping up with Twitter.
The photos in this post are so lovely. I wish I was as photogenic as you!
