I am not sure where the time has slipped since my last blog post and now. I have logged onto my blog countless times since then, tinkered at a number of drafts and logged back out again. Rinse and repeat, and somehow two years have passed… to my great shame, as I have not kept my promise to myself to post to a regular schedule. Still, I’m back now and there is no point in chastising myself for paragraphs on end, so let’s catch up on the last while!
Finished my Masters
I mentioned it here, but after a tough few months working on my dissertation, I was relieved to finish my Masters degree. It was definitely one of the more challenging periods of my life as I struggled in a myriad of ways: “I don’t understand”, “This is too hard”, “Why am I doing this? What am I doing with my life?”, all against the backdrop of the pandemic confusion. I feel grateful to have made it through. In September I returned to Munich and stayed there until late July 2021.
Started a little business
After I finished the Masters, I began the arduous job hunt. I bookmarked this Reddit post which spoke to my (crushed) soul. It still makes me laugh. But while jobs were proving elusive, I made some money selling some of my own things on eBay and caught the selling bug. I branched out into sourcing additional inventory and also helping others to sell their preloved pieces. I loved it all, and I can see myself doing something like this longer term if I can build upon it further. It also sparked some other ideas which I hope to share with you when the time is right.
Got a job
In November 2021, I had found success on the job hunt front and was to begin my new role in January 2022. The company and my colleagues are all wonderful and I feel very lucky to be where I am. I have been keeping up with my selling business alongside working, but it can be quite a lot to juggle both at times. In fact, if I’m being honest, I struggled for a while with readjusting to working full time again. I missed my old life and Munich (and I still do).
Etc…
Regular day-to-day life has been happening along the way, alongside some special times and fun adventures. One was buying a car in Scotland – a beautiful, British racing green Mini Cooper – which involved flying to Glasgow, getting a bus into the city, catching a train to the town where the dealership was, driving the car to Stranraer, then getting the ferry back home – a fun day out all round for me and my dad! A lovely city break to London with my mum, going to Abba Voyage and the sadness of being there when the Queen passed away. Making my first (and second…) designer handbag purchases, which I shall share on here soon. I’ve even been revisiting my childhood recently by getting an original PlayStation with my old favourite games!
I think that’s us more or less up to speed now! I hope everything is well in your world and I’m looking forward to spending more time blogging again.

Oh Sarah, it was so wonderful to read about what you’ve been up to! I’ve been wondering and always enjoy your posts. Congratulations on your Masters! And on starting your business (that’s something similar I’ve been wanting to do too!)
And congrats on your lovely car! It sounds so much like my beloved mini cooper that got smashed by a tree. Still heartbroken but ironically, it opened a lot of doors for me and my current life.
