Although I don’t buy into the whole “New Year, New You” thing as much as I used to, I do like to reflect on how far I’ve come in certain ways, and consider how I may better myself for the coming year and future. January can be an inspiring time, so I thought I’d share some of my goals and ambitions for 2018 – both blogging and personal. I’d love to hear yours, too!
Become more confident in front of the camera
When planning for an outfit post, I have all kinds of ideas about the images I’d like to create. Yet, most of these seem to go straight out the window when I’m in front of the camera lens. I blink mid-shot (a lot), I become painfully aware of my limbs (what do I do with my arms?!) and just don’t feel fully comfortable – yet. I want to become confident, not just at striking poses, but confident in what I’m doing, as a blogger. In public places with people looking – people who I assume are unaware of blogs – I often become even more self-conscious (especially as I stand awkwardly, asking Jamie ‘what should I do with my hands?!‘), but I need to stop worrying so much and practice loosening up.
Be more consistent
I need to harness the power of social media a lot more. I’ll be honest – it wouldn’t cost me a thought to not open the Twitter app for weeks, but it’s such an important tool for blogging that I ought to use it more. I tend to go through fits and spurts, where I will use daily, then fall away from it for a while. The same goes for Instagram – when trying to grow my online presence, one post a week just won’t cut it and I know it.
I also want to post with more consistency here, on my blog. I don’t know about having a set schedule as such, but aiming to post 2/3 times a week is something I’d like to do.
Create opportunities – not wait for them
Having just added the finishing touches to my media kit, I’m gearing up to put myself out there for blogging and creative opportunities. I’ve come to learn that for the most part, these things do not fall into one’s lap, so I’m going to put myself out there. And hopefully reap some rewards from it!
Stamp out overthinking
Overthinking has been a problem for me for years, but I’m thankfully a lot better than I used to be. I want to continue improving in this area and hopefully in time I will stamp it out entirely. I’m intending to practice mindfulness to clear my head, as well as enjoying some self-care days.
Eat less meat
I’m not planning to cut out meat entirely, but I’m going to make a conscious effort to have a few meat-free days every week, as well as eating more plant-based foods.
What are your goals and ambitions for 2018?

Being more comfortable in front of the lens is one of my goals as well! I very rarely post photos of myself on my blog, but I’d like that to change in 2018. That of course means many an awkward photo session, but hopefully it will get better with time..! Fingers crossed for us both :) x
