“… What a glorious feeling!”
I hope you all had a wonderful New Years! What did you get up to? It’s become a bit of a tradition for Jamie and I to light sky lanterns at midnight and make wishes for the year ahead. This year was no different, and we lit four! After watching the last one disappear into the clear night sky, we witnessed a shooting star! What a magical start to the year, hopefully it’s some sort of sign of things to come!
This time of year is perhaps the most poignant time to reflect on things. January can be a blue month for a variety of reasons, but I think it’s important to try to see the glass as half full, and to live in the moment without projecting into the future – and it just so happens that these are my new years resolutions. I’d love to hear what your resolutions are too?
These photos were taken by Jamie on New Years Day. Although it was miserable weather, it was the perfect opportunity to crack out this umbrella – and what a beauty it is! Every cloud, right?! (See, new years resolutions coming in already..!) Although the umbrella is very much a strong statement with its bold print, I feel the rest of the outfit is somewhat understated yet consistent, and holds its own with the little details. The pattern on my coat, the zips on the back of my boots, the soft frill on my jumper, and a simple, cosy headband. Although it’s bitter cold, I actually really like the autumn/winter months because I’m a huge advocate for coats and I quite enjoy wrapping up like this. x

Hi Sarah! I love your blog and your sense of style :) It is traditional for my partner and I to light Lanterns on NYE also, and make a wish for the year ahead. I certainly find your optimistic outlook to be an inspiration. It’s so true, we can never find happiness while caught up in past resentments or projecting fear of what may happen in the future. True happiness can only be found once we learn to live in the moment! My resolution for 2014 is to do just that; to concentrate on living in the now and enjoy my youth, since I’ll never be younger than I am right now at this very moment :) Look forward to your next post!
